On Sunday April 3, 2011, more than 200 riders, family members, volunteers, vendors, and public officials enjoyed a beautiful day in the sun on the winding roads of Bohai Township.
The Schoolhouse at Mutianyu will present 21,190 RMB to the elderly of Bohai Township in a ceremony later this year, during Chong Yang Jie, which is a time to honor the elders in China.
The objective of the Bohai or Bust Charity Bike Event has been two-fold. Certainly to raise funds for the elderly of Bohai Township but also to give people from the city an opportunity to enjoy what the Township of Bohai has to offer in terms of wonderful biking routes, fresh air and quaint villages to visit. We hope that you all will continue to visit the area which will provide long-term economic assistance by increased tourism to these villages.
We appreciate the support of The Hutong and Smarter Than Car, who provided professional guidance throughout the planning process, and logistical support on the day of the event. We would like to offer a special mention to the biking route guides who volunteered their personal time and expertise. And of course a special thank you to all of our sponsors, without whom the event would not have been possible.

Comments from Riders:
"Just wanted to send you a quick note to say thanks and congrats on a brilliant day out. And glad to hear a decent sum was raised for the elderly of Bohai. It really was a fantastic event, and I had a lot of fun. So thank you to you and all the team behind making this happen -- because it really was brilliantly organised. My partner and I were both very impressed. And really enjoyed taking part in such a great event. Thanks!"

"It's always great for those of us who are car-less to get out in the country with our bikes, and even better to do good in the process."
